For Graduates of Real Life Manners

Outdoor Class!
This class meets at local parks to take walks in a real life context.  We will focus on skills needed to walk in public and around distractions.  It can be one of the greatest pleasures of having a dog. But, if your dog pulls on the leash, then the walk is neither healthy for your dog nor relaxing for you.

Class Locations:  Bryant Lake, Lone Lake, Round Lake and Starring Lake

Pre-requisite:  One previous pupDOGS class.  We want you to have some of the foundation skills needed to be successful!

This class is Not appropriate for dogs with leash aggression.  Your dogs needs to be comfortable walking closely by other dogs/people.

Leave our dog training classes ready to:

  • Walk confidently with a dog who no longer takes you for a walk.
  • Enjoy a dog who is focused on you and responds when you call her name.
  • Train your dog whatever behaviors are most important to you and whatever real-life sends your way!

We focus on training dog owners in a welcoming and fun atmosphere.  We want you to leave with the skills necessary to continue teaching your dog all the skills necessary for living peacefully with your family.

The adult classes have set Start Dates.

The Puppy Introduction is Required before starting either Head Start or Kinder Pup.

  • $20
  • Held most Thursdays from 8:30 pm- 9:30 pm.
  • One night only.
  • Puppies Stay Home.
  • Pre-registration required.

This one hour session is our way of setting you up for success before entering one of the puppy classes!  While your puppy stays home to snooze, you will be busy learning how to train him/her.  Think of it as taking a driver's ed. class before getting behind the wheel.  In this case, we focus on your training skills before holding the leash.  And there will be homework to set your puppy up for success.

New Clients: You will register for two classes at the same time:

  1. Register for the Puppy Introduction.
  2. Register for Head Start OR Kinder Pup.

Returning Puppy Clients:  You do not need to take the Puppy Introduction again.

We've designed our puppy curriculum to take advantage of the short-lived socialization stage.  Our goal is to help you raise a Well Socialized, Friendly Adult Dog!

Topics covered:

  • Socialization: puppy playtime, people/children, handling, sounds, surfaces...
  • Puppy Topics: nipping, house/crate training, grooming, excitability...
  • Problem Prevention: jumping, counter-surfing, chewing...
  • Foundation Skills: attention, come, loose leash walking...

The puppy classes are Rolling Admission.

  • Each week we focus on specific topics to address the unique challenges of raising a puppy.  Our modular format allows new students to join at any time.
  • Your paid registration guarantees your enrollment for a block of six consecutive weeks with your choice of start dates.
  • Enrollment is limited to 10 puppies. Registration is required.

puppy Training Classes

This course lays the foundations to training your dog in increasingly challenging real-life contexts. You will train your dog obedience skills that include coming when called, walking nicely on leash, polite greetings, sit, down, stay,  leave it, and more!

Missed Class Policy for Rolling Admissions:

Your registration fee guarantees you a spot for six weeks.  If you miss one of those weeks, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to make up the missed class.  That decision is made based on enrollment.  If there is an available spot after your six weeks, you are more than welcome to make up a missed class the week following your original graduation date.  But if our enrollment is full, that will not be possible.

"Thanks for a great class.  We have learned so much and wish we would have done it years ago with the older dogs.  The young dogs are better behaved thanks to your class!"
